Contact Us:Lifemarx LLC Clinical Trial Results - July 1, 2009HangFree® Hangover Prevention pills are made from a Marine Mollusk Extract (MME) harvested from Caribbean pink conch. Conch, which is rich in iodine and protein, has been consumed in the Caribbean for hundreds of years and is renowned in the region for its ability to slow aging, combat cancers, clean the blood of toxins, and alleviate hangovers. GoldLeaf Sustainable, our manufacturer of HangFree® performed the clinical trial to gauge the efficacy of HangFree® at preventing hangovers and hangover symptoms. Subjects of various ages, ethnicities, and genders were selected at random to test the product and fill out a survey anonymously. ProcedureOne package containing three capsules (1350 mgs marine mollusk extract) of HangFree® was administered to the subjects during their third drink of the night. Locations were limited to bar-type settings and the types of alcohol consumed included beer and hard liquor. Subjects were told to complete the surveys the following morning after an adequate night of sleep. Two trials were conducted independently in Chicago, IL and Panama City, Panama and the trial results were pooled together. A total of 102 subjects were surveyed. For the purpose of this trial, the term “hangover” was defined as alcohol use causing nausea, vomiting, extreme headaches, sensitivity to light, irritability, confusion, bloating, upset stomach, extreme fatigue, jitters or shake, and/or the inability to function in the day after drinking. This product was not intended to prevent alcohol poisoning caused by extreme over-consumption of alcohol, tiredness from lack of sleep, or to alleviate the symptoms of other drugs. Results
In subjects reporting 5 or more hours of sleep, effectiveness increased to 94%. Overall, 96% stated that they would recommend HangFree® to a friend. Of the pool surveyed, 69% were men and 31% were women. There was no statistical difference in effectiveness stated by men and women. Levels of drunkenness varied though 88% of respondents indicated moderate to high drunkenness. Conclusions
Though not recorded, to GoldLeaf Sustainable and Pannexus Marketing and Distribution indicated that there was a good spread of ethnicities in their subject pools (people of Latin, Asian, Caucasian, and African origin were all included). The effect of ethnic background on the effectiveness of HangFree® has not been ruled out, and this may be the subject of future studies.
